Mössbauer spectroscopy study of binuclear iron complexes with macrocyclic Schiff bases with amino acids methionine and histidine has been made. The relationship of the observed Mössbauer parameters and catalytic activity of complexes have been postulated.

Биядерные комплексы железа различного строения широко применяются как катализаторы окисления в органической химии. В работе синтезированы и изучены, в том числе методом мессбауэровской спектроскопии, новые биядерные комплексы железа с макроциклическими основаниями Шиффа на основе 4-трет-бутил-2,6-диформилфенола и аминокислот метионина и гистидина. Полученные комплексы изучены комплексом физико-химических методов и как катализаторы в реакциях парциального окисления изобутана до третбутилового спирта и разложения третбутилгидропероксида. Показано, что активность и селективность проявляемая комплексами зависят от природы мостиковой группы между двумя ионами железа и не зависят от аминокислотного окружения.

It is known that humic substances (HS) are actively involved in geochemical processes of metal transfer in soil and water ecosystems. Humic substances are involved in the formation and erosion of metal-containing minerals and ores. However, questions about mechanisms and kinetics of transfer of mineral-forming metals in soluble form, composition of these forms, mechanisms and conditions for formation of precipitations containing metal in nature, are not fully understood yet. In this paper we are proposing to examine some of these problems by example of iron, which is an important mineral-forming and biologically active metal. Iron is supposed to be included in humic compounds in chelate complexes form, and in highly hydrated oxohydroxo compounds form. Various functional groups present in HS composition can form compounds with iron and stabilize dispersed system. We believe that the same functional groups of HS could also be involved in chemical interaction with dissolved iron compounds contributing to its extraction from solution.

Arrays of vertically aligned multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWNT) were grown by the method of pyrolitic gas-phase deposition were studied by a number of techniques. Vibrational modes variations over the length (height) of CNTs with abnormal large aspect ratio of the order of 104 ÷ 105 were studied using the Raman scattering spectra. The results made it possible to estimate structure degree of disorder variation over the length of MWNTs indirectly. Microstructure and composition data were obtained using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray dispersion analysis. The method of Mössbauer spectrometry was used to investigate the phases of iron present in MWNTs. Based on the experimental results, various iron phases distribution influence on the MWNTs growth mechanism was discussed.
